Miyagi earthquake
An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale shook northeastern Japan. Local authorities warned of the potential tsunami waves from this earthquake.

In broadcasting, NHK television also appealed to local residents living in coastal areas, away from the shore and fled to higher ground.
